School Games

As I have mentioned here before Shriek is in the second grade. I am getting pretty used to this whole school thing but it’s hard when your immediate family is not the only one influencing your kids any more. There are many wonderful role models out there and it’s great for socialization. it’s just the little things that make me laugh about what she learns from her friends.

Here are a few school games Shriek has learned since school started.

1. Easy Peazy lemon Squeezy: This is adorable It makes me smile every time How would that not be cute?

2.  A game called “Cheese touch” apparently you tag someone and say really obnoxiously loud, CHEESE TOUCH! then they are it. But if that person happens to be super smart and crosses his or her fingers before tagged the cheese touch does not count. Pretty complex right?

here are a few school games I remember when I was her age.

1. Married swings. If you were swinging the same speed and direction as a boy you two were considered to be married. Everyone would tease you and sing the first come love first come marriage song. (if only it were that easy to get married no wedding planning or anything!) I avoided swinging the same direction as boys like the plague. It was taken very seriously.

2. Rhymes we would say while we clapped hands or jumped rope. Cinderella dressed in Yellow, down by the banks or say say my playmate. I worked so hard with friends practicing the moves. So funny.

I love to think about how I was when I was young through My daughters eyes. Everything going on in my life was so important. I try to be understanding that it is like that for her. I just hope she does not grow up too fast!

What silly games do you remember playing as a kid at school?

we used to play “frogger” – while other kids were swinging we’d try to run between them and not get hit. I think deep down we all had death wishes.

ah… the “cheese touch” has gone from print into actual use – Diary Of A Wimpy Kid is a highly influential book among the elementary crowd I see 😉

Red Rover, red rover is one of my favorites, but really dangerous!

Umm, we played statues. Swing each other around until they fall down or up but when let go must land in a statue pose until you are unfrozen. We liked this game. Yes, cheese touch is popular now apparently. Thanks to Diary of a Wimpy Kid, one of the crappiest movies ever made.

Foursquare baby! and of course all kinds of variations of such. Oooh and MASH! That was the best game of all!

Our school outlawed red rover after numerous accidents. I loved that game too!
I remember the married swings. Too funny!
