Children’s Book Review and Giveaway

Today’s Screamtastic stuff review and giveaway is very personal to me. I have been excited to post it for awhile! It is a book review of a children’s book that is written by none other than my Mom, Jo Zumbrunnen.

You could say that because of this fact I could be biased, and maybe that is inevitable, but this book is so cute I know I would’ve enjoyed it otherwise! It truly has such a great message.

My mom has been writing children’s books as long as I can remember. This is her second book that she has published.

To give a little back story on how this book came to be .My Mom wrote it  for my Daughter Shriek. Shriek was diagnosed with a mild form of Alopecia Areata when she was about three years old. Alopecia is an autoimmune disorder that affects the hair follicles. basically it means round spots of baldness occurs. My shriek has a full head of hair and has had minimal hair loss. Only in certain areas on her cute head. It never has been too noticeable to anyone other than me and my husband. It is something that could possibly get worse so we talk about it from time time with her. I just try to teach her self confidence and that she is beautiful inside and out. I know many other things would be worse so we do not focus our energy on it. This book has helped her a lot with not worrying about what happens. it all about being the one and only you!

Now on to the book!

Introducing Hairietta Hairison The One, The Only Me.

Join Hairietta on her Hair-oic journey! Remember, seven or forty, one hundred and one, you’re the girl in charge, now go have fun!

I don’t want to go into to many of the details of this cute story. I would not want to spoil it. I will say that it is about the most spunky confidant girl (Hairietta) that never lets anything get in her way!

The pictures are so creative and fun My brother illustrated it, and my sister in law did the graphic design.

the  illustrations are surrounded by different colors of polka dots on every page. As shown above. I think the polka dots make it so eye catching and fun!

I love this book so much and would recommend it to anyone no matter how young or old. I am very proud of my mom and the work she put into this book.

This is such a great idea for a book. I’m so excited to read it! It’s so educational about something that can be hard for children to understand. I know someone who suffered from this and could have really used this book. Thanks for the giveaway!
