The umpire (My husband) Had a day off a little while ago and we decided to do some thing relaxing with the kids. When that didn’t happen we took them up to the mountains to run off all of their energy! Which did end up being pretty relaxing.
The Best little hike for kids in Utah has to be Silver lake! It has a boarded wooden path around the little lake. So get this, I could take my stroller with us! Ingenious really! The entire walk around the lake only lasts about 30 minutes as well so perfect for my impatient kiddos. What was also ingenious is the fact that I brought My really good camera with me, started to take a picture when I realized my battery was dead! So these are all taken with my iphone. Because as we all know iphones can do anything!
Silver Lake is located at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon. Funny tidbit about our little drive is that even though The umpire and I are both born and raised in Utah we got all the way up Little cottonwood canyon before we found out that Silver lake is at the top of Big Cottonwood canyon! Yes, true Utahns are we! I actually blame it on the fact that neither my husband or I Ski. We would have known what ski resorts were in which canyon and where to go. yes we are from Utah and Don’t ski. We really are bad Utahns! Anyways the leaves in the trees were starting to change gorgeous colors so I actually liked the extra drive we had to take.
The Screamettes (my girls) Loved the pathway! As you can tell from the pictures below. I love how protected the area is. Your not allowed to step off the path at all. Yeah if that’s the rules I probably should not have let them balance on the sides! but they did not fall! (My kids are destined for the tight rope walk act in the circus!)
Hands down Silver Lake is the best place to go up into the mountains when you have small children! We had a great afternoon and hope to go back many times!
