Moving to a Toddler Bed

As Dora the Explorer would say “We did it” This past weekend we made the switch. Squeal is now sleeping in an adorable little toddler bed.

I have to say that this was a hard decision to make, but after talking about sleep issues and hearing others experiences I thought what better time than now for her to be moving to a toddler bed, right before she turns 2 years old.

The whole time we were setting it up Squeal knew it was hers. Shout and Shriek were just as excited and the packaging foam in the box was like confetti being thrown around celebrating this moment into toddler hood.

After it was all set up Squeal hopped right in with some books. She loved getting in and out and in and out. I was nervous about night time because she has slept so good in her crib and what is that wise saying? If it’s not broke don’t fix it. It was time to put her to bed and after some good lucks from  twitter friends I carried my almost 2 year old upstairs to brush her teeth and go to bed.

After I put her in. There was a few tears. I figured I would leave and shut the door and that I would get her if it lasted a long time. She got out knocked on the door and cried for about 2 minutes. Awhile later when I checked on her she had tucked her self back in and was peacefully asleep! Woohoo! She slept all night. The only major side affect has been waking up at 5:00 am. I am not complaining through. Hopefully she’ll start sleeping in later soon.

*In honor of Squeals Birthday this week I will be definitely throwing in some more Dora references as that is her favorite show. I make even have something Dora to review and giveaway! So be sure to stay tuned!

    I am SCARED of moving Vin into a toddler bed, but with Van it was no big deal. Hooray for it going better that expected.

    What a cute bed! I’m glad that the switch went pretty good for you! Our youngest went into a floor bed around 13 months. It was a good switch for her too!

    awesome! so glad it went that smoothly – I love Toddler beds, part of me wishes I’d left the girls in theirs for a few more years – since REALLY they’re not truly outgrown until the kid is… well… y’know MY height :)

    Aw, what a big milestone! My boys moved to toddler beds kind of early, too- they were climbers so it was safer! :)

    Argh. Reading this makes me realize that we need to get one of those for our house. Although, I can’t imagaine things going nearly as smoothly. . .

    When it comes to toddler beds, i still prefer the ones that uses wooden bed frames and cotton beds. “,*.;
