Remember my potty training post in March? I wrote about the do’s and don’ts of potty training Squeal. It did not happen. I tried and tried and Squeal was not having it. I was hugely pregnant and surrendered immediately to start at a later date. I figured I would start again when Squeak was 4 or 5 months old. Maybe Squeal would be over her act like a baby stage and be ready to make the potty training thing stick.
When our baby Squeak was about 5 weeks old I witnessed a potty training miracle! Squeal was playing outside when she ran inside and declared that she needed to go potty right that second. I was in shock. I promptly grabbed the plastic potty chair that had aquired dust up to this point and encouraged her to do her thing. SHE DID!
I was ecstatic you think that I had just gotten a phone call from Donny Osmond or something! It did not stop there folks. She continued to go when she needed to with hardly any accidents! EVEN POO! (I never thought I would be so excited about poo that I would type it in cap locks) a few weeks later she is still a pro!
The excitement has not worn off for me yet. I am in amazement every time she goes. It’s like relieving yourself is a brand new thing that people have never done before. I seriously cannot believe that she potty trained herself. I am here to testify that miracles do happen. Do not give up on your potty training dreams people. I am proof!
What has your kids done lately that has made your proud?
