In these last few weeks before my newest Screamette is born I have learned a lot about my other girls. Particularly Squeal. Her little 3 yr old self has been so fun to watch as she gets really excited to be a big sister. Every day my ginormous belly is greeted with kisses and a short to the point You need to come out of mommy’s belly conversation. She gets this whole pregnancy business a lot more than I thought she would.

She has been coming with me to some of my midwife appointments. If she is good I let her choose a treat at the pharmacy. She chooses blue gummy sharks without fail every time. We then go to the most amazing cafe and bakery nearby after every appt to get me a treat. I have really loved this time with just her. After my appt last week I thought it would be fun to order lunch at the Cafe instead of just getting something to go. She was so excited to sit inside and have a lunch date. I got an amazing turkey sandwich and she chose a cherry turnover. We started asking each other questions. Like whats your favorite candy, Whats your favorite movie…ect. When it was her turn to ask me a questions she said,

“Mom whats your favorite Boobs?”

I could not stop laughing as she waited for my answer. She then said “Those Boobs?” as she was pointing to my chest. ”

“Sure” I said still laughing. “I guess these ones are fine, They will do.”

I seriously get a kick out of that girl and can’t wait to see her interact with her new baby sister. I am sure they will be the best of friends and talk about everything together. They probably at some point will also talk about boobs. I am sure of it.

*Here is a picture Squeal took of me today. Pretty good for a three year old huh? I had fun editing it using Picmonkey

For Mothers day this year I really do not want a lot. All I want is breakfast in bed with a few hand made gifts from the Screamette’s. I also may have told my husband exactly what I wanted for that breakfast, every single detail. I am 8 months pregnant people! Food is pretty important to me at the moment. If your curious. I asked for Waffles with raspberries and whipped cream, sausage and orange juice. I don’t think I am being too picky, but don’t ask my husband that question! What is your ideal treat for mothers day?

I recently found out about another “treat” that would be fun to get for mothers day.

I was able to attend a girls night out at a yummy restaurant (California Pizza Kitchen) where I was “treated” by Treat.com with some fun blog friends old and new and had a really nice night.

Treat.com is through shutterfly and is a greeting card site with every option under the moon. You can choose and create any type of card you want and even add gift cards to them. Very cool. The mothers day ones are pretty adorable and can have any picture added to them for that more personal touch. Here are my two favorite funny ones.

I loved learning about Treat.com and can’t wait to order some fun cards through them. Perhaps baby announcements, since I have never done them before for any of my girls. I can’t wait.

Find out more about treat. com through their Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest

* I received product and was treated to a really fun dinner through Treat.com all opinions are my own.

It’s not easy being Huge! Me at 35 weeks

So I wonder to myself why I have not written about this topic before now. I have always cared a little too much about what people think and am letting that go once and for all. I have also been wanting to share more of myself on this blog so here goes.

After having my last three babies with the epidural and that whole shebang I have decided this time around to use Hypnobirthing to have an unmedicated birth in the hospital.

It’s funny a year ago I would have thought of anyone doing this and considered them crazy. Now I am the one being told I am crazy. Things can really come full circle huh?

It started out with me exploring the option of having a midwife instead of an OB. For all my girls I have ended up having the Dr on call deliver them for one reason or another and while it was not the most horrible thing ever it seemed impersonable and strange to have some person I have never met come in right when the baby is almost out, deliver and then leave with barely a Hi. I wanted something different.

My neighbor who goes to a practice of 5 midwives told me all about them. I went and had a consult and decided that would be the best for me. The midwife I met with was so personable with no time limit on our appointment and super knowledgeable. I have LOVED our appointments and have still not gotten over that she personally calls me to tell me my test results and see how I am doing! It shocks me every time!

So from our appointments I just started getting curious about natural child birth especially because I knew I had a caregiver that was supportive of birthing naturally. I figured I would need massive help getting me ready to do this and knew I needed some sort of class or program. Hypnobirthing was just one of the things I had heard about so I started researching for an instructor in my area and went from there. I love that Hyprnobirthing concentrates on complete relaxation during the whole birthing process.

I found an instructor named Debbie who worked with my husbands and I crazy schedule and would come to our house to have the classes. Can I just say it has been life changing? I have learned so much and am actually excited for it all to begin. I have come a long way from every time I have stubbed my toe, changing my mind and saying there is no way I can do this to actually smiling when I think about it.

I have no ill will for epidurals or medication and do not consider myself any type of superwomen for taking this on. it is just something I have decided to do this time around. I can’t way to share my birthing story with all of the details including the video for which I have hired a camera man to be directly front and center when this all happens.

*Just kidding about the last part!!!

I love Pandora. I discovered it long after everyone on the planet already knew what it was, but just in case you don’t it’s this website (also an app on your iPhone) that you can type in a genre of music or artist or favorite song and it creates a music station for you. With that style of music. Very cool.

I love that I can find awesome new music. I love it’s selections. It is the perfect soundtrack to my Dance cleaning and it just seriously rocks my world!

Lately I found myself with a problem. We got a new computer for Christmas that replaced our 10 year old one, so I sometime prefer to listen to the music on it instead of using headphones with my iPhone, also so my girls can clean dance and groove with me if I use the computer because we can put the music through speakers.

The problem is that on the website version of Pandora they include the entire lyrics to every song they play. So instead of getting up off of my tush and getting some things accomplished around the house, I end up having a mini Karaoke concert with myself and my computer singing all the lyrics to every single song. It is not very productive to say the least. Here is a screen shot of an awesome song that I belt out in my so not Adele’s voice so you know what I mean.

Doesn’t everyone love the satisfaction of being able to sing every single lyric of every single song at the top of there lungs?? Well I sure do.

I think I desperately need somebody to invite me to go do Karaoke with them. That might help my problem.

I also dare everyone to try this, it’s so much fun and quite addicting.

I was tempted to make a video of myself doing this so you all could see but I totally chickened out. Maybe someday I will. (Like if someone gets me a Slurpee)

*this is so not sponsored I just like this website a lot.

One of my favorite things about being pregnant is giving into the cravings. Telling that husband of yours to get in the car and bring you home what your dying to have or else, in a nice way of course.

Throughout my other pregnancies I have had different cravings. This one is by far my favorite and easiest to attain.

It is a Slurpee.

I had no idea this was a common pregnancy craving until I started seeing other pregnant ladies on Facebook and twitter comment that they needed one ASAP.

There is nothing else that tastes better than a cold iced carbonated sugary drink late at night that you don’t have to share.

My husband has a night job and has been making it a routine to grab me one on his way home from work. I almost hug the Slurpee instead of him as he walks in the door with that cold delicious beverage.

I really love the fruity flavors, minus Banana. I also think blue Powerade Slurpee is divine.

My sweet sweet husband of a man even one upped my regular Slurpee craving about a week ago by bringing home the queen of all Slurpee cups. The reusable two sectioned cup with removable divider and magic two strawed contraption with three settings. One setting for each side and then one if you want it to be mixed, all triggered by rotating the little slurpee knob. Pure genius!!!

I don’t use the cup every time even though I do love it because I have found I am kind of a Slurpee purist and enjoy it best in the paper cup with the smaller straws that my husband always brings me two of because I usually end up breaking one.

I definitely married a keeper.

I love to lay back on my couch and slowly slurp away while I watch the news. Daydreaming about the next time I get to have another one of these amazing drinks that complete me in a way nothing else will.

What was/is your favorite pregnancy craving?

*this post is in no way sponsored by 7-11 but if you do know them please hook me up. This Slurpee habit is adding up!

The other Day we all went to the Happiest place on earth no not Disneyland, Costco. I have written about my love of Costco before so I will not gush I promise but I seriously just love that place.

We had all the kids in tow but I saw things I wanted to put in my girls easter baskets, Swim Suits, Goggles, Treats. How would they not see them? I made a hasty decision. I told the girls I wanted these to be part of there Easter (Not all, I am planning on getting them a few more fun things to be surprises today) I then decided to say:

“You guys know it’s just me and Daddy that give you presents on Easter right?” I worried a little bit what their answer would be. Was I destroying there Easter dreams dashing all of their hopes about life? I breathed a sigh of relief when my 6 and 9 yr old looked at me and said “Yeah mom we know it’s just you and Dad”.

PHEW!

My 6 yr old then said. “Mom even if there was a bunny it would actually be a guy dressed in a bunny costume”.

So I did not just ruin Easter after all and right when I was still a little worried a lady came up to me and said “I heard what you said to your girls and I think that was really great”.

I really did want my girls to focus on the real meaning of Easter this year. Why we really celebrate it. So we can think about Christ and the sacrifice he made for us and to spend time with our family.

While I never know if I truly make the all the right decisions for my little ones I will always know how much I love them and how they are always a step ahead of me.

So there you have it. I am going to make it a fun day for my girls for sure. They will search for eggs, eat tons and tons of candy ,and enjoy there Easter. Easter Bunny or not.

Yes they still believe in Santa and no I will not ruin that. until they figure it out for themselves.

Shout, my Kindergartner is loving school and really enjoying everything she is learning. I knew she was a little behind in reading and wanted to get her up to speed and start working with her a lot more. This pregnancy has made me so sleepy that I know I use the TV way too much as a baby sitter and as far as I know The Mario Brothers show from the eighties that she loves does not teach early reading.

I was so glad when I was contacted by Bob Books to do a review and Giveaway of two of their Early readers.

I did make the mistake of telling Shout she would be getting books in the mail. Every second of every day she would ask about her books. It was quickly becoming as frequent as the amount of times I read and heard that Snooky was indeed expecting a child.

She loved reading these with and without me by her side. Cutest reader ever.

When the books came she was thrilled. I loved the bright colored pictures and how easy it was to point to the pictures and have Shout identify the words. I loved the level of words and was happy to see that a lot of the basics words were ones Shout had been working on at school. Each book also has flashcards in the back to cut out and quiz your child. Love that feature!

I wanted a little feedback about the best ways to incorporate these books in our every day lives of craziness so I asked the Author Lynn Maslen Kertell a few questions about her books. Her answers are below my questions. I loved what she had to say.

1. What is the best way to use your books to help a child read? Also how much time is the best amount everyday to go over these books without overwhelming or loosing the Childs attention?

I’ll start with the second part of the question. The wrong amount of time is going until you and your child are cranky and irritated. Every kid (and parent) is different, so there is no “perfect” amount of time that is right for everybody. Some kids are natural readers, they love the attention of sitting with Mom or Dad and showing all they know. Other kids would rather be jumping off the couch than sitting on it with a book. I think a minimum amount of time is 5 minutes per day, even for kids who are not fond of reading. If you child wants to keep going – great.

There are lots of active ways you can practice reading skills with your child, too. Ask your child to read traffic signs while you’re driving. See if they can find the letter “M” in Market when you go shopping. Ask them to draw letters in the dirt or make them out of pipe cleaners or clay. Skill building can be a game, not a drudgery.

Bob Books help with beginning reading in a couple of ways:

- the stories are funny (I hope!!) to both parents and kids, so they’re enjoyable and satisfying.

- a many words as possible can be “sounded out.” It is important for kids to feel success when they’re starting to read. Our English language is complicated.Bob Books are written to be phonics-based, so children can sound out the words and be successful from the start.

- The two new books (Cupcake Surprise! and The New Puppy) have flash cards in the back, so you can help your child become familiar with the difficult words.

- If your child is struggling with these two books, review the basics by reading any of Bob Books Sets 1, 2, 3, or Sight Words.

2. I love how well the pictures match up to the words used in the books. How did you choose the beginning words in the book? Was it hard not making them too difficult to understand for early readers?

My job is like a fun puzzle, because I have to tell a good story with a simple vocabulary. I do a lot of switching words around, and even taking out whole sentences, so the story will work without using difficult spellings. I try to make the writing rich and interesting. Even thought they’re less than 200 words, and easy reading is a top priority, I want my books to be fun, easy to read, and worth reading.

I have mentioned before my love affair with the iPhone app Instagram. (my user name on it is livingthescream if you want to Follow me!)

I wanted to share my last few photo’s from it because I think there is no better way to sum up life then candid photo’s using rad filters.

My girls begged me to get them ready for a princess birthday party they had that day, approximately 5 hours later! This is them looking in the “TV mirror” as they call it making sure they are looking their princess best

My happiest moment ever! Finally got my stash of Girl Scout cookies. Guess how long it took me and my family to eat this? if you guessed more than 1 day you would be wrong.

I have come a long way in 28 weeks of pregnancy! June can’t come soon enough!

Of course you can not watch a show on an iPad without a little cuddling. Gotta love it when I see sisterly happiness occurring because lets just say it does not happen all of the time.
