Both my Husbands side of the family and mine all live in Utah, no more than up to 20 minutes from us. This makes it very special during the Holidays but it has not always been like this. Four years ago we were living near Houston Texas. Brandon was a first time teacher at a Junior High. We did not hardly know anyone except for a dear friend of mine That I had known since high school that lived about an hour away. Knowing we were not able to fly home for thanksgiving My friend Trish graciously invited us to stay with her family for Thanksgiving.
We were both pregnant at the time and had so much fun chatting away and enjoying good food. We had the best time! Her family was so sweet and my girls were in love with their dogs. We stayed the night and went to the renaissance festival in Texas the next day. It was seriously one of the funnest and nicest thankgsgivings we have ever had. I think about it every year with such great memories.
This is of my two princesses at the Renaissance festival. They have grown so much since then!
Fast forward four years to now. We have since moved back to Utah where all of her family is from. I Miss her and wish she could spend the holiday here with her family.
One thing I do know for certain is that food brings people together. The Thanksgiving dish I brought that year was Pecan Pie. It was my first time making it and turned out really good. I would love to share it with you along with a recent twist I added to it.
