We LOVE Survivor over here. The Screamette’s and I have been watching together since fellow Utahn Dawn Meehan was on a few seasons ago and we have the best time tuning in each week. We have a yummy treat for every episode and I try to watch the show as my crazy girls jump all over me on the couch.
For this new season, Survivor Cagayon We decided to get extra into it by creating our own buffs.
Even though they did not turn out quite how they should they still are pretty fun to wear every Wednesday as we watch the
insane brave contestants outwit, outlast and outplay.
I went and bought awesome stretchy polyester material and
Made asked my amazing husband to design us a logo, We even named our tribe Mapahiyaw which is scream in tagalong. (How appropriate right?)
I got special paper that would stick to the buffs when ironed on. I cut out the logo and borrowed my mom’s iron because we don’t even have one HA. The whole project sounds simple enough right? Well it would have been if I would have researched a bit more. I had looked online for the dimensions of the buffs and cut my material. after we ironed on the cute logo I was wondering why these buffs were not fitting right. They weren’t near as functional as the ones on tv! After much puzzling though I realized that the buffs are a big tube! you double the dimensions long ways then fold and sew! DUH! That is why the survivor contestants are able to wear the buff as a shirt and so on!
Instead of starting over, a simple safety pin salvaged the whole project! They are still pretty cute. My girls look adorable in them craft fail or not. We love to wear them during the show. I may not be the craftiest person on the planet but at least I try! (I usuallly I don’t try to craft until I forget about my last craft fail, much like having another baby)
keep your eyes out, we may even start doing recap videos posted on YouTube for some of the episodes. My girls really do have great insight on the show. As of now we think the brain tribe are all completely crazy!
I have loved that Survivor has been something we can enjoy together as a family. I hope it stays around for forever!
