I have kind of been in a shoebox packing frenzy the last few days and I wanted to update you and tell you how it all went. As I mentioned here I had a goal to help pack around 20 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. This seemed a little lofty to me and I was nervous. I rallied my friends and family and I am so happy to say that the total amount of boxes packed full of wonderful things for children was 41!!!! Forty One amazing boxes packed with simple things children from all over the world will enjoy and more importantly the message that God loves them!
My sweet friend Harmony (Pictured with me above) organized a wonderful packing party at the ward (Church building) I attended before moving. I spoke to them about my trip and showed them this inspiring video.
The people attending had all brought wonderful donations and packed 23 boxes! It was so neat!! Thanks to all who helped and attended!
My Second packing party was planned for my family including my Mom and Dad, My brothers, their wives, and my nieces and nephews. Wow was it chaotic! In a good way of course! They LOVED packing the shoeboxes and all enjoyed writing a letter to the child who would get their box full of goodies. We packed 16 boxes! Thanks also to my sweet Mother In Law who packed 2 boxes up to the brim for me!
I HAVE GOOD NEWS! You still have plenty of time to pack and drop off a Shoe box! Collection week is going on now until the 25th. You can find your local drop off location here. I so recommend this as a fun family activity. Such a great way to teach your kids about service! Thank You to all who helped me and lets pack even more next year!
